Mandriva purchases Lycoris Assets
It seems like Mandriva (formerly Mandrake) is at it again. This time they have bought some assets from Lycoris (formerly Redmond Linux). Here is an extract from the release announcement,

With their solid aquisitions lately, I hope we'll see Mandriva be the introduction distro of choice for newbies (seems mostly for individuals for now, though, and not for enterprises).
They can accomplish this by providing (not to say that they do not, but anything can be improved):

I don't want them to make a distro specifically for newbies, but something thats well polished and attractive to both newbies and long term users.

Not to start a war, but there is almost always a tradeoff between maximizing the intended audience and ensuring best quality for a certain (small but important) group...

nah- it's too short of a time. people are still calling it mandrake! so no, I don't think so (but I have been wrong before)
besides, I guess the name must have been part of the takeover deal. titanium_geek |
I liked it better when it was Mandrake. Mandriva sounds too much like drival.
