This is funny, because 14 years from the first post on this thread means June 2000. I think it is approximately the epoch I started with Linux, as a try first, then as a complement to Windows, and a few years after as a replacement of Windows.

It's not been very long since I arrived here, but I feel quite pleased.
As I said in my presentation post, I appreciate that it is still possible to login here without need of javascript. I use lynx, I know that it is a bit oldfascionned, but for a linux forum, I think it's not very fine to not be compatible with text browsers, and I encountered this case on another forum.
I hope it will keep on working with lynx a long time. Has the version been upgraded since June ?

The drawbacks I've encountered as of now are :
- a timeout on my connection, I already experienced it on other forums with lynx
- I haven't found a link to show me the lists of threads I am subscribed to, but I guess it exists somewhere.
I may have other things to say about the forum but have nothing else in my mind yet.
Congratulations for this success tory!

You might want to talk to the lynx people about the timeout, depending on how long it takes.
As for the link to the list of threads you've subscribed to, I can help you a little, there's a link on the upper right hand side of the screen called "my LQ" it links to a list of posts you've made. However, I'm ncertain about how to get to all the ones you've subscribed to.
HEY, Jeremy! Is there a link for that kinda thing? We both have yet to find shuch a thing.

jeremy 12-29-2014 01:21 PM

On the MyLQ page, there a link to "View all Subscribed Threads".

Ok, I had seen the MyLQ link but never tried it. I'm doing it right now.
As for the lynx timeout, I don't know if it's an expected behaviour, if it's configurable or anything, but yes, I guess LQ is not responsible for that.

Congratulations, Jeremy. Running a forum is a lot of work (I barely take part in running a tiny one somewhere) and it's a great resource: I almost always set my search engine to filter out everything but LQ results because I know the quality is high.

Keep it up!

Happy belated birthday!

thanx for running the site, it has saved me more times than i can count. i too have been a member for 10 years, and now that i have gone totally windows free, i have began taking care of the iso database. i made my first entry tonight, and after that i found a bunch of entries submitted, so i will try to get to those quickly. one other thing i did notice was there were a bunch of spam that was really obvious on the forms at the end of the list. I deleted the spam and the duplicate entries to start with. it looks like somone needs to lok at the spam to see how to prevent it, captchas or something. i don't think there's any injection going on, but there were attempts, but it looked as if the input was sanitized. someone should have a look at it just to check it out and lock it up if needed.

After several years of reading this forum, among others, I finally joined today so that I could post a question I couldn't fin an answer for.

Clearly identified as a first post, I was amazed to see how quickly it was answered, and by top-ranking members too! Truly amazing!

Thanks a lot for all the effort and hard work.
