Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

And the tropy for a great forum goes to (drumroll...) Jeremy!
Thanks for this forum. It was one of the first places I came to way-way back (Fedora 8 - just before EOL) to learn something...and I'm still here, learning!
All I can say is you guys have been a tremendous help to me as I'm learning Linux and other related technologies. Thanks for your service to the Linux community. Keep doing what your doing! I wish I could do more. God bless you!
As much as I love the idea, I'm afraid it'd have a devastating effect on LQ members' relationships. People would have to regularly attend counseling sessions with the Emacs psychoanalyst
Looking at my post count it looks like I'm spending way too much time here haha
But actually, it's very handy for keeping me sharp, especially between jobs; you never know what's coming up in the next interview & it enables me to hit the ground running.
I still learn new tricks/info on a regular basis...
That may be true, but some hardware just doesn't work well under Linux, and it might be useful to know this before you buy it. I mean I just bought some Asus netbooks, but they're not listed on there. I have no clue if they will even run Linux ... I decided to roll the dice.
Still too true. There is still quite a bit of hardware that will work, IF you can find drivers, IF you can configure the drivers, etc....
