Congratulations, Jeremy. You have provided the Linux community with a great and invaluable service.
I would like to see periodic component recommendations for people wishing to build a complete system from parts. I think this has been done on Tom's Hardware Guide, but I suspect there are posters here who build systems for a living who could really make some good recommendations. A few could be picked out for special recognition from time to time.
Also, it appears PCLinuxOS doesn't have its own sub forum. It might be something to consider adding.
Dealing with poor folk (meself incl) I see the opposite trend: Linux develops it's way farther and farther away from our hardware at an accelerating pace. Thank God for Tomas M and Slax, puppy, ..environs like xfce, IceWM & etc etc.
Thanks for the feedback. The HCL will be receiving a major upgrade as part of the next code update (although I'd say the concept of a Linux HCL is probably becoming less important as time goes on - the number of hardware devices that I come into contact with that don't work in Linux seem to be dwindling).

Happy birthday...
LQ is good, i watch for new Linux distributions that support my old AMD Athlon 1800+ with Nvidia.
for me LQ is the way to download my favorite Linux systems.
But on my 62 years old i do not test much anymore... Just searching for a distro that works, specific on my AMD. I hope to find it, and so i can keep my oldy in good health.
VectorLinux is i think the one who support that computer, but i have no virus scanner and i send much mails with attachments. Thats a point that where i fall off, i don't want infections and send those around.
Greetings,
Artfreddy.
LinuxQuestions, along with certain other sites such as Ubuntu Community, provide an excellent resource.
However, one problem is becoming apparent is that there is too much obsolete information about. Take for example the installation & configuration of redmine: the majority of blogs/pages on this topic are out of date.
How about some sticky How-To pages which are updated specifically for the latest Ubuntu & Fedora, discarding obsolete information as time progresses?

I need an example source code of device driver and its mechanism explaination use for OS curriculum. Whould you give me this kind of materials? Thanks!
There is a perennial problem (especially with newbie posters) where they give very inadequate background information.
If you ask them for more information, you've now taken them out of the "Zero Reply Threads" queue and feel like you own their problem. I'm sure we've all gone through this - waiting for someone else to start the round of "Twenty Questions" with the OP. What would be nice is an alternative "Submit Reply" button that says "We can't possibly help you without more information" that would not count as a reply. (Ok, maybe "Request More Info" might fit on the screen better...) Also for this to work, the OP's reply should not be counted as a reply either.
This would give us the ability to ask questions like "what distribution are you running?", "what type of filesystem is it?", "what was the last command you entered before your server turned into a doorstop?", etc., without bumping the reply count and having the post lose visibility.
Another suggestion would be to allow an OP to mark their post as "closed" which would be "unsolved, but I've given up..."
And finally, a stat somewhere that tells a poster "You have xxx threads that you have initiated that you have not marked solved or closed." And maybe include that stat in the same area where their number of posts and rep are shown.
