Linux 101: How to set up Linux on a PC

An Article was published on Techrepublic on December 5 2005 under the title Linux 101: How to set up Linux on a PC
This was actually the first article that Techrepublic published in a series titled Linux 101, they have 6 such articles so far.

Just for the record, the Articles are Copyright to CNET Networks and cannot be re-distributed, but can be accessed from several CNET sites. The sites may require you to sign up for a free membership to access the articles.
Also, for the record, fully half of the currently published articles in that series were written by me. Including the Series starter linked above.

Quite a comprehensive guide. I was thinking that an overall comparison to the different distro's out there (top 20) would be a nice addition. Maybe I will take that upon myself to write.

Cheers,

I prefer slackware, which I have used for the past 8 years as my primary linux distro. I have tried a multitude of other distro's and always come back to slackware. My only wish is that Pat would update the website more frequently. It would be nice to know when the next version is coming out.

Cheers,

Ithaycu

The proper answer always is: "soon"
But don't hold your breath while waiting
