Running a .NET application natively under Linux might be more useful to some. Or even under wine (or other GPLed non-emulator).

I tried the dotnet-install.sh script first, but it wouldn't continue without me first installing libunwind, which I installed, but the script failed later because of a bad URL to the latest build. Oh well.

I was a little puzzled that all of the sdk downloads point to the same SDK file but it runs just fine here. The generic install instructions are here: https://www.microsoft.com/net/download/linux. On Slackware 14.2, you will also need to install libunwind to run the SDK.

I didn't feel like trying out vscode, so I didn't.

I did unpack the files right in my ~/Downloads directory and ran everything from within that dir instead of how they suggest I do it. I followed the commands in the video and then followed those up with `../dotnet run` inside of the myApp directory and was greeted with "Hello World". Great.

Telemetry
--------------
The .NET Core tools collect usage data in order to improve your experience. The data is anonymous and does not include command-line arguments. The data is collected by Microsoft and shared with the community.
You can opt out of telemetry by setting a DOTNET_CLI_TELEMETRY_OPTOUT environment variable to 1 using your favorite shell.
You can read more about .NET Core tools telemetry @ https://aka.ms/dotnet-cli-telemetry.
