Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Announcing a new site in BETA - ChromeOSQuestions.org
Please welcome ChromeOSQuestions.org to The Questions Network family of sites. ChromeOSQuestions.org is for the discussion of all topics relating to Chrome OS and Chrome OS devices.
Note that if you have an account here at LQ, you already have an CQ account. The CQ site is running the next generation platform that will power LQ at some point in the future, so we're very interested in feedback and comments. If you have a suggestion or feedback, visit http://www.chromeosquestions.org/thr...SQuestions-org and let us know. If the feedback relates to LQ in any way, feel free to post in this thread.
A definition might be the logical way to get started.
I use "Chromium" as a browser.
What is the difference between "Chromium" and "Chrome OS".
Thank you.

Chromium (and Chrome) is a browser, while Chromium OS (and Chrome OS) is a Linux-based operating system designed by Google to work exclusively with web applications.
What's the difference between Chromium OS and Google Chrome OS?
Google Chrome OS is to Chromium OS what Google Chrome browser is to Chromium.
* Chromium OS is the open source project, used primarily by developers, with code that is available for anyone to checkout, modify, and build.
* Google Chrome OS is the Google product that OEMs ship on Chromebooks for general consumer use.
Just wanted to comment that I strongly prefer the visual appearance of the platform we have here at LQ. Very strongly. I cannot see a single thing I like better in the newer platform. I would hate to see what we have here change to that one.
Thanks for all your hard work. This is my favorite place on the Internet. And I like the face it has now.

I'm with BloomingNutria about the appearance; it's well laid-out, and LOTS of us are used to it.

Thanks for the feedback. It's inevitable that LQ will move to the new platform. The current code base has served us well but is showing its age and will not allow us to move forward with some of the features and additions we'd like to implement. That said, if there are specific aspects of the current visual appearance that members think are significantly better in the old design, we'll certainly attempt to work them into the new design. The move to a new platform isn't something we take lightly and is something we'll be asking for feedback at every step along the way.
