If you prefer the layout and flow of SO-like sites, you may be interested in http://linuxexchange.org/ (which is also an LQ sister site).

I'll keep an eye on your nw project Jeremy. If only those colours in the site's palette did not hurt my eyes so much ;-)
Anyways, there may be life packaging software for Android at some point in future. Slackware would make an ideal development platform for Android.

Keep in mind that AQ is not quite as Linux-focused as LQ is. Verdana is actually the default here at LQ too, but I'll add Arial and Helvetica to AQ for consistency.

I've been having fun modding my Viewsonic G Tablet. I'm glad to hear that there will be another source for Android discussion. I hope AndroidQuestions becomes as popular with Andorid users as LinuxQuestions has with Linux users. Good Luck Jeremy.

sorry, I didn't mean verdana. Actually I wanted to suggest making verdana default and skip the first two. Already forgot the default one on AQ because I don't have it.
Calibri shouldn't be used imho as it's part of MS Office I think and even windows users don't have it. And of course because it looks ugly in linux ...

jeremy 06-06-2011 03:07 PM

Verdana actually already was the default at AQ. The font setting is now: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,Tahoma,Calibri,Geneva,sans-serif

strange, I have this: Tahoma,Calibri,Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif;
and it's showing Calibri (when it's activated).

What content are you referring to? The list I gave is for the font of all post content, which comprises the majority of text you'll regularly read on the site.

I'm almost certain that almatic is referring to the post's body.

almatic 06-06-2011 04:33 PM

the forum is verdana now, rest still calibri.

jeremy 06-07-2011 08:41 AM

I'm not sure why you're seeing that, but verdana is and always was the first font in every bit of CSS (except for two popup bits, where it's tahoma, verdana).

I have not been a member of LQ long, But have grown to be pretty fond of the blue and white it sports. Not that I don't like the green of AQ ... But I gotta admit, LQ looks shnazzy.

I like the round edges on the board categories, they kinda make it pop.

It took me a second to find the 'User CP' in it's little box in the left hand corner, and I much prefer the MY LQ that is used here to that.

The layout of the quick reply/reply editor is very nice, and I dig the new buttons.

I notice there is no rep system, Would that be done away with or has it just not yet been added?

I like being able to 'shade' the subjects such as: Site navigation, Sponsers, Search, etc ... So that only what you want/need to see is available.

Overall, I'd say it's a decent forum. the way it is presented is easily understood, and it looks good. Great job ... Can't wait to see how it looks on LQ. :)

We're happy to announce that AndroidQuestions.org is now out of BETA. Continued feedback is welcome, especially concerning the search at AQ (or other areas you think LQ needs to be improved - remember that AQ runs the next generation platform that will eventually power LQ).
