My old favorite under Slackware used to be XEvil. I think it used to ship with it.

Slackware, just the best! Not only for desktop, but all my servers!

Very interesting. I am admired why Slackware? In DistroWatch it always about point 10 behind Ubuntu, Mint, openSuse. This pool is reason to look closely at this distro.
In many cases people vote for what, they better know, or what many distribution provide by default. I also did so. This is why not MariaDB: "few people know about it" and even less used it. I learned myself that there is another web server besides Apache only through this pool.

I am really happy that Slackware won this but I was hoping for Fedora. And glad that python is winning.

Slackware is the only major distro without a users' forum, so all the Slackers join this one.

Slackware is a back to basics and no bullcrap Linux distro. Most of it is designed around FreeBSD style scripting and efficiency without redundancy unless the user wants to add it. I really makes you become an administrator of the system having you learn about fundamentals of the system rather than being point-click-and-go.

security enhanced linux (SELINUX) is rightly the best security application. although the concept is
little bit tough to master but provides extreme security.
