2007 LinuxQuestions.org Members Choice Awards Categories
Voting will soon open for the 2007 LinuxQuestions.org Members Choice Awards. Below you will find a list of potential categories for this year. As you can see, I have modified the categories based on feedback received over the last couple years. That being said, it's not too late to have an impact of the final category list. Perhaps the games category could be split into "3d games" and "classic games" so you wouldn't have to directly compare games such as Nexuiz and PyChess directly.
Sorry for a stupid question, but on what merits are we actually voting? Are we voting on which application we think is the best for the said category or are we voting on which one made the most progress/advancement during 2007? I don't use or care much for KDE, but I think it made more advancements this year than the other desktop environments.
The reason I ask is because although application X might be better than application Y, it would seem odd to declare X the winner if it hasn't been updated since 2005 while Y is has almost caught up with a great amount of progress through the year. "Category of the year" seems to imply that a project made some great advancement in that year more so than simply picking our favorite.
