.~/bash_login No such file or directory

Hey everyone I just recently bought an APPLE iMac and trying to get sphinx installed with MAMP.

im following this tutorial http://www.sphinxsearch.com/forum/view.html?id=1535 .

Step 2 is killing me. i do vi ~/.bash_login and brings me to empty sheet and I enter the information i then save&exit. i then try to run .~/bash_login and i get No such file or directory.

Any ideas? Not sure what im doing wrong.

are you doing

because the space is important.

To run the file from the command line, run '~/.bash_login'. Note that the dot is after the slash. The dot is part of the file name (it indicates that the file is a hidden file). Also, make sure that the file you created has the executable bit set on by running 'chmod +x ~/.bash_login'.

The best way to execute is go to the required directory & run following command

#. .bash_login

or

#. ~/.bash_login
