ZSH - Enabling autocompletion messes up vi-history search

I've been trying to make it so that when I go back and forth between AIX & RHEL I don't have the ksh/bash headache by using ZSH. I've gotten to the point where everything works well (RHEL guy notices only good changes, AIX guys got used to tab instead of esc+\ just fine), but everytime I try to enable autocompletion it breaks the happy meter.

Two questions, then:

1) Is there -any- way to -additionally- bind esc+\ to auto-complete, same as tab?

2) The below three lines enable case insensitive autocompletion, but make it so you have to hit esc 2-3 times before you can hit / to search your history, which is basically not okay:

#The below somehow screw up vi searching from a prompt with esc+/ ... ?
#autoload -U compinit # Load these two for the case-insensitive globbing.
    #compinit -C
    # Case-insensitive (all),partial-word and then substring completion
    #zstyle ':completion:*' matcher-list 'm:{a-zA-Z}={A-Za-z}' 'r:|[._-]=* r:|=*' 'l:|=* r:|=*'
I can no longer search with esc-> / like I'd expect. I tried this both on AIX6.1 & Fedora 14 and got the same results (Which wasn't always the case, disturbingly, lots of things didn't work back and forth between the Operating Systems when I was testing).

My entire .zshrc is here on pastebin

Thanks in advance for any help/critiques =] Is there is another place that would be better for me to post this I'll happily take a recommendation.

I didn't see anything against a bump, so this is basically just a shameless bump

I'd very happily take a recommendation for an IRC channel or alternate forum to try if need be.
