Zone file(s) problem, datestamps keep updating on secondary DNS server.

Hi,

We have a primary and secondary DNS server. We noticed a strange problem on the secondary server which at first we thought was related to the recent DNS poisoning warning but this doesn't appear to be the issue.

Zone files from the primary which have not been changed (i.e. No change to their serial number) appear to be being copied on the secondary server every 30mins/1 hour). We have stopped/restarted the named process but with no effect. The files look OK on the secondary but we are confused as to why their datestamps keeps changing??

Any thoughts.

PS Running Red Hat Enterprise 4

Presumably this is because you've configured the secondary as a slave server. It is just trying to insure it has up to date information from the master.

If you look at the serial number of the slave server's zone files you'll see it is still the same as the zone files on the master.
