zlib ?!

Hello ,
Thanks for helps me , i need help again , i want to know something .... My suse 9.1 using zlib 1.2.1 . Now i want to update zlib to 1.2.2. I want to use tarball files to install. My question is will there be any conflict if i install zlib1.2.2 without uninstall zlib1.2.1 first , the second question is i know that to install it i need to use ./configure , make , make install , make clean , but is there anything i need to do with pkgconfig? Thank you. This may be useful to thousands of newbies.

not everything in the linux world is ./configure, make, make install ( alot of things will be missing features/broken). yes remove your old zlib first.

May I ask why you want to upgrade from 1.2.1 to 1.2.2? More to the point, is it really worth it (does it have a new feature that you need, or something you want? Just keep in mind, when you mess with the core system ( alot of programs use zlib), you have to be careful. If done incorrectly.....)
