ZIP Support

I've got SuSE 8 Pro, and an internal 250Mb ZIP drive.

As it seems with almost all the other threads I've searched here about ZIP drives, the computer does not detect it.

However, all of the other threads I could find seemed to have some sort of configuration for ZIP disks, and I can't find anything about them on my computer (what I mean is like the entrys in the /etc/fstab file). YaST2 doesn't seem to have a way of detecting them either, so how do I get my Iomega zip drive to be funtional?

Thanks! :study:

if its hooked up to an ide cable maybe its reading it as a floppy *gasp* or some other drive? also, check your bios, you might need a newer bios to use it maybe?

in the case above try messing with the hard drives listed in /dev(i think) and try mounting them and see if you can find which one is your zipdrive.

its been a year since ive used linux so uhh i cant try this out for myself.

strange that it wasn't recognized during install. Mine was on the RH install.
fstab recognizes it as zip250.0 it seems strange to me if suse-install gave it an other name, but you might check the devices as suggested.

Hope you find your zip-drive

It is more than likely to be an IDE/Atapi drive if it's internal (there are internal SCSI ones... but they're as rare as hen's teeth). If you could tell us which channel it's connected to (primary master, primary slave, secondary master... you get the idea) we could help you quicker.
