YUM Updatesd
Heres another Q from a dummy.I am using fedora 6 on a dual boot system and whenever I use fedora I find my CPU Usage is 100% and the culprit is yum updatesd which is almoat always running in the background and this prevents me from usung add remove programme besides heating up my system. What should I do? How to rectify this nagging problem?

If the program is stuck you can kill it with the "kill" command (the syntax is kill <pid> where <pid> is the process ID you see in top or ps). You might want to run yum update in the foreground to try to determine if there is some larger problem with your setup (yum should never just hang in the way you describe).

You could just disable it using the Service configuration tool (system-config-services) or by doing

#chkconfig --del yum-updatesd
You will need to upgrade your system manually if you disable yum-updatesd from running.
