yum update freezes - newbie help please

Hi guys

Aplogies if this has been posted several times, I've looked around and can't find a solution, some of the posts date back as far as 2005.

I've recently purchased a VPS with CentOS 5 installed with full root access.

I've just ran a yum update and It just hangs, I've masked my IP address for obvious reasons.
Any help or direction would be much apreciated

PS I'm a newbie to the command line.

Does your provider provide support? How long have you let it go?

Hi Kodak

They do provide support and they replied with the repositories could be having a problem and to keep trying. I've left it for about 10 minutes, what would your suggestion be?

I try and do ctrl C but nothing happens
