Yum problem

I just installed Fedora Core 2 and updated it following instructions from this site

Unofficial Fedora Core 2 Guide for Beginners
(sorry, my first post, can't post URLs yet)

Then I configured yum to use "Extra" Repositories like told on that site. But now started the problem.

When I try to get any software, like mplayer for instance, and type

#yum -y install mplayer mplayer-skins

I get only

Gathering header information file(s) from server(s)
Server: Fedora Core 2 - i386 - Base

and thats it, nothing after that.
Even if I remove those "Extra" Repositories and try to run yum with same configurations as first time, it wont work.

So any help or ideas whats wrong

Welcome to LQ! I normally see this problem when the servers I'm connecting with are too congested with traffic. Try changing the servers you're connecting with to something else. You can change them by editing the file /etc/yum.conf and try searching the forums for other posts about yum and I'm sure you easily figure out how to point to other servers. Try to choose a mirror that's pretty close to you geographically.

Ok, my bad, I had made typo in yum.conf file.
