yum nvidia

updated the kernel to kernel 2.6.10-1.771_FC 2
Used yum to download install nvidia with
yum install nvidia-glx kernel-module-nvidia-`(uname -r)`
logged off and returned to a flashing screen
grub log in command line
at closing line 1 reads
disabling nvidia driver

where did I screw up? How do Iresolve?
the original kernel operates fine with no graphics card of course

haven't the faintest idea of how YUM works, never used it. But normally with the nvidia driver, you'd download the driver and the readme (or I just print the relevant section(s) of the readme, and you'd then stop the X server, into an "init 3" login as root, cd to the directory that you downloaded it to and run the script as per the instructions.

Then with whatever editor you use, make the minor change to the Xorg.conf file, change back to an init 5 login (graphical), and restart. If you've got it right, you'll know as you see the nvidia splash screen.

If you haven't got something that's needed i.e. the kernel AND the kernel sources, you'll get an error when you run the script.

Sorry, as I say, not only have I never used YUM, but also try to avoid the devils spawn that is Fedora/Redhat, like the plague :D so thats about all I can offer in the way of assistance.

regards

John
