yum not working
 
Hi after a performed a yum update last evening i havent been able to use yum.
I get the following error

There was a problem importing one of the Python modules
required to run yum. The error leading to this problem was:

/usr/lib/python2.7/lib-dynload/_socket.so: undefined symbol: _PyInt_AsInt

Please install a package which provides this module, or
verify that the module is installed correctly.

It's possible that the above module doesn't match the
current version of Python, which is:
2.7.3 (default, Jul 24 2012, 10:05:39)
[GCC 4.7.0 20120507 (Red Hat 4.7.0-5)]

can someone please help

have you tried uninstall python and reinstall?

Yeah the ultimate solution for the above problem is to get Pythong un-installed/removed completey and then re-installing it with RPM packages, seems that you are using Red Hat but the below link is for CentOS but hopefully will guide you through:
