yum install/update not working in centos 6.3 (redhat linux)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am getting errors while installing any new tool or updating tools using yum.I am newbie to linux and don't know how to resolve it. I have tried with yum clean all, yum check and yum upgrade. But it didn't help to resolve the issue.
Command: yum install R
Error :
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, refresh-packagekit, security
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
* base: repo1.ash.innoscale.net
* epel: mirror.cogentco.com
* extras: mirror.us.leaseweb.net
* updates: repo1.ash.innoscale.net http://download.opensuse.org/reposit...ta/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] PYCURL ERROR 22 - "The requested URL returned error: 404"
Trying other mirror.
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: home_fengshuo_zeromq. Please verify its path and try again
Could you please suggest me how to resolve this issue.
#1 while they are compiled from the same sources, CentOS is not RHEL: they use a totally different set of repositories. Your reference to both could be misleading. I assume you really have CentOS, or you would be asking Red Hat support these questions.
#2 why is there an OpenSUSE repository in your repo list? Someone had to add that, as CentOS is not normally or by default configured to pull software from repositories for other distributions. Why was that added?
Removing the non-CentOS repository would eliminate that error, but I would want to track down WHY it is there first and see if FIXING it might be better than REMOVING it.
Thanks for reply. I have seen zeromq repo in /etc/yum.repos.d. Because of this only yum update not working. I have moved it to some other location. Now yum update is working. So can i remove it. Is it safe. Please suggest.
After yum update, when I restarted aws ec2 instance,i was not able to connect the instance using putty.It was showing "Network error: Connection timed out".
