YUM Install - RHEL 5

Hi, I just tried to install yum for RHEL 5 and it seems like its not going through right, does anyone know the proper way to install YUM from scratch

when I try a yum update I get this:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/yum", line 28, in ?
import yummain
File "/usr/share/yum-cli/yummain.py", line 30, in ?
from yum.i18n import _
ImportError: No module named i18n

ANy help would be great

Yum should already be in there. Did you try 'which yum'?
I have not seen an install of rhel5 which did not come with yum automatically.

If it is indeed not there then log into RHN and select it for install and then type in 'rhn_check' on your machine.

Yeah this is really strange,

This all happened when an admin app was crashing and I had another tech look at it and he said well it doesnt seem like yum is installed correct, since yum.conf is blank

when i type in which yum i get this

[root@web ~]# which yum
/usr/bin/yum

and yum update i get this:

[root@web ~]# yum update
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/yum", line 28, in ?
import yummain
File "/usr/share/yum-cli/yummain.py", line 30, in ?
from yum.i18n import _
ImportError: No module named i18n

where exactly in the rhn do you select it for install?

I'm seeing this issue, too... yum did work until I did a "yum update yum". I'm on RHEL5.2
