yum can not find up2date packages !!

Hello all,

I am using yum to update and install any packages that i want since its very easy and user friendly however i have noticed that some of the packages that i want are outdated. for example:
for yum "firefox0.8" avalible meanwhile there is "firefox1.0"
for yum "gimp 1.2" but there is "gimp 2.2" out there now

my yum conifguration include:
base, dag, freshrpms, updates-released.. so i do have more that defaults source for packages.

thanks for you comments in advance

It sounds like you have an older version like FC1 . They stop updating after a certian point and move onto the next version of fedora.

yes, i do fc1..
i have another pc with fc3 on but i really feel more familiar and comfortable with fc1 but if you say they don't update it anymore i guess i have to move on.
with fc3 i had a couple of freezes and things just did not work smoothly for me as fc1 thats y i kept using fc1.

I just took a look at the fedora review page and fc1 is getting the best reviews and ratings among all three fedora versions.

Thanks for your reply

You might have some luck by checking into legacy fedora or similar to see if you can find some site which may help with updates. I haven't really done anything like that as I'm just rolling with the flow. I haven't had much of any problem with FC3 but then I liked FC1 and FC2 also.
