Yet another stupid sound question
This mandrake 9.0 is nearly as good as I would like it to be. But I am still having some snags with the onboard sound.
The module for i810 audio loads at boot I get most, if not all, of the KDE start up jingle base thing I have just had a go at some of the games and got the sound OK with tuxracer When I put a disc in the CDrom/CDRW device, I can play music by using the play button on the front of the device, but get nothing from KSCD. When I put a disc in the DVD/CDrom device and fire up the KSCD the screen shows the disc as playing, I can start and stop, change track, etc but get no sound. So, I am presuming that it would be some sort of linking problem. Am I right to suspect this and how would I correct it? The onboard sound chip is another one of these bloody awful AC97 devices, it is sometimes identified as an intel 82801BA/BAM AC97 and sometimes seems to be refered to as an Advance ALS200 (i think) regards john p.s. I know that elsewhere in the forums I have been threatening to buy a decent sound card, but that doesn't mean that I don't want to sort this snag - I suspect that I am really a tight git at heart!!!!!!!!!!!! |
The only thing I can suggest is to try using xmms... it seems to me like the best audio player for linux (basically a winamp clone... can even use winamp skins!)
