Yet another ati legacy problem


my board has a i 440 chipset and a 400 MHZ PII and integrated video with svidio and tv out as well as analog monitor out. well since im new to linux after i installed fedora 2 on there i got the message x sever could not start i know its the ati rage pro 4x's fault i reinstall with no probe on monitor and no probe that gave me a few more video options ................now the guicomes up just the loginscreen isabit garbled and when i try to use a compatible video driver it tells me to log out restart x server (it claims to have edited xorg) BS same driver is loadwhen irestarrrtxserver after ive logged out .....cananyone help me out ati does not really support their "legacy" products
