yes my hair is falling out

Will someone please tell me of some good books that actually will help me in understanding how the hell mandrake works. It would be lovely to be able to browse my floppy drive or cd drive even!!!!! Most of my hair has fallen out now and having installed mandrake 9.1 yesterday and played with it most of today I still have no internet, weird file problems and a whole host of other freaky linux things goin on . . . . Come back Bill all is forgiven :p

How about starting here:

Blow Windoze

The way Windoze is copying everyone elses OS it won't be long before it too is a variant of *nix!

Keep persisting, tackle one job at a time. check your logs for errors and for any errors, search Google, there's almost always someone else out there who has had the same problem, sometimes it just takes a bit to find the right answer and the folks here at LQ are extremely helpful. Just post all the details, OS version, details of problem, what you've tried etc. :-)

At least with Linux, if something goes wrong you only have to tackle the problem itself and not the whole OS, guessing what conflict is where.

Heh. Id say by now the poor bastard has no hair :-(
Or maybe he's getting payed 100k++ a year because he read his mandrake books, and now he's a linux geek network admin for google.
Unlikely...

Its not the OP that brought this back but Jaze. Recommending for closure!

shrikant.odugoudar

Are you still on that old kernel and old version of KDE?

XavierP 02-24-2007 07:12 AM

Shrikant is on FC6 kernel 2.6.19-1.2895.fc6 & KDE 3.5.5-1.2.fc6.kde now.

And since none of the contributions were powerful enough to
make the dead horse run I'll close the thread .... may it
rest in peace.

Cheers,
Tink
