Yamaha YMF 724 problem
I am a newbie.
I remember using mandrake 8.2 and the sound worked right away, but now for some reason I installed Mandrake 10 and I cant get a sound out of the card. It seems like it has detected it during the installation because in the control center > hardware I can see it in the list of detected hardware as an YMF -724. So it must be there.... but on the KMIX applet next to the time I can see a speaker with a red X on it, but mute is NOT selected. When I click on it with the left mouse button I get a small window that tells me to select current mixer from a drop down box. But there is no mixer in there to select! What must I do? Please if you know discribe the solution as best as you can because I am new to linux. I found this post that seems to have the solution.... but I have no idea what to do! Can anyone help me out? have you tried opening a terminal and running alsamixer to see if anything is muted there? have a look here
http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc...-Yamaha#matrix there are several listings for the card, check/read, each. often there are tips and tricks on the card page for getting the card going, as well as getting the most from the card. good luck. |
