Xwindows

I'm trying out Turbolinux aside from win98. I am fairly new to Linux but completely new to this distro. What is the command to configure xwindows and start x? Also, I installed the basic linux package so I'm not sure if xwindows is even included in that, if not I can reinstall.

x should be installed, try Xconfigurator or XF86Setup.

If not, don't reinstall!!!! you'll be able to install teh packages from your distro cd. I'd guess turbo is an rpm based distro, not sure tho. if it is run

rpm -iv /location-of-rpms/filename.rpm

unsuprisingly, the commadn to start x is... startx

Ok, I tried those commands and neither one worked. Says command not found. Guess I'll try to install x.

well, amke sure they're not just off-path.

locate Xconfigurator
whereis Xconfigurator

if neither of them give anythign useful, then try installing stuff.

only install X4 or higher though. I think there is one 3.3.6 X package which is still used by 4+, but i can't remember which one, a common somethign or other,
