Hi all I'm using Xubuntu 10.10 and trying desperately to connect to my wireless network. I have tried wicd and network manager when I crashed wicd. First of all I would get a "bad password" message, then I progressed to a "cannot assign IP" now I can connect to the network and see my netbook on my routers GUI but I can't browse. I have an ASUS 901 (bought with Xandros installed as standard). I'm not sure if I am making progress or not because half of the time, I only have a vague idea of what I am doing.

Any help is grately appreciated.

Oh, may I add that I am connecting to an ASUS WAN router acting as an access point (the old router is working only as a modem). Please help I am no sissy dual-booter, I am taking the shower of shame by posting this via my girlfriend's windows pc. Sob!
