Unhappy xubuntu start up ipw2200 failed to send power_mode loop


xubuntu 11.10, toshiba laptop, intell wireless
system was working fine, using wireless
shut down
now get
"1003.xxxxx] ipw2200: failed to snd Power_mode: REason -6
no space for Tx

How do I get my system to start?
