x installs a utility called xfontsel at the same time it installs xterm
with xfontsel you can learn the proper string to access the various fonts
you can type man xterm to see the various start up options for fonts
(yo can just use names or dimensions and stuff)
and then just put those options in the menu command or link to start xterm
or put you preferences in a file ~/.Xresources
read it in to test with xrdb ~/.Xresources
later it will be read automatically when you log in
syntax is like (this is just mine -- it's a little overly complex and most likely some of it doesn't work)
(if all you need is font only put font is fine)
Code:
xterm*geometry: 80x10+60+60
xterm*background: Black
xterm*foreground: Wheat
xterm*cursorColor: Orchid
xterm*reverseVideo: false
xterm*scrollBar: true

xterm*reverseWrap: true
xterm*font: *fixed-bold-r-*-15-*-*
xterm*fullCursor: true
xterm*scrollTtyOutput: off
xterm*scrollKey: on
xterm*VT100.Translations: #override\n\
	<KeyPress>Prior : scroll-back(1,page)\n\
	<KeyPress>Next : scroll-forw(1,page)
xterm*titleBar: false
*loginShell: true
! Use color for underline attribute
*VT100*colorULMode: on
*VT100*underLine: off

! Use color for the bold attribute
*VT100*colorBDMode: on

! Love scrollback
*VT100*saveLines: 5000
*VT100*scrollBar: true

! Use -color app-defaults in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/app-defaults
!*customization: -color
