.xsession-errors: Failed to execute mesage bus deamon:No such file or directory

Hi all,

This is my first question in this forum, and I am new to LINUX,
I installed CentOS few months back and it was working fine till now,
but after trying to install some software,I am not able to login as ROOT user.I am getting .xsession-errors(I am able to login with other username)

and the details of that error is as shown below.
/etc/X11/gdm/Presession/Default:Registering your session with wtmp and utmp
/etc/X11/gdm/Presession/Default:/usr/bin/X11/sessreg -a -w /var/log/wtmp -u /var/run/utmp -x "/var/gdm/:0.Xservers" -h "" -1 ":0" "root"
Failed to execute mesage bus deamon:No such file or directory
EOF in dbus-launch reading adress from deamon

I appreciate if somebody guide me to solve this problem.

Thankyou for all your help.

Chakra.

I dont know? I am pretty new to this too but I am not so sure that gdm directory is under /var, I think it is usually under /etc.
in fact I did a whereis gdm and I got many directories such as /usr/lib, /usr/sbin etc,. etc,.
in any case check your configuration file(s) under /etc/X11 and do a ls -l to see the dates they were modified. look for backup copies which end with a ~
I think the software you recently installed changed something in your config file.
Also (I am running Ubuntu 8x) But check under /var/log to see if that utmp exists? I do not have that one either? but I see the wtmp there.

Good Luck!
