XP's user switching in redhat ??
I was just wondering, before I go and commit to the change to redhat, how does one switch user accounts under redhat without the dialup session disconnecting.
For example , under windows XP, I can dialup under my login and then change to another user account and still have the internet dialup connected Cheers |
Depending on what program you use to dial up with, you can most likely always switch consoles in Linux and login as a different user that way.

If you currently use kppp (or similar) to
connect I suggest you change that to using pppd with demand-dialing. That way it's a system service, and you don't need to worry about it. The alternative would be to have two xsessions running (which can be quite easily achieved) (Go to a full-screen console and type startx -- :1). You can then switch back and forth between the two graphical desktops :) using <CTRL>+<ALT>+<F-Key> ... Cheers, Tink |
