Xorg update

I'm installing Debian Etch on my pismo powerbook.

I got as far as Xorg server starting and just get jumbled garbage. At this point I switched to the shell and did
Code:
# dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
I noticed that the pci address was incorrect but other than that, I autodetected my vidcard (ati rage mobility 128) and entered the correct resolutions. I rebooted, and this time Xserver fails to boot, giving the error

Quote:
no matching Device Section for Instance (BusID PCI:0:16:0)
This happens to be the incorrect ID which I mentioned before. The .conf file still lists the ID correctly. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Nestor

post your /etc/X11/xorg.conf and the output of lspci

Did you correct the PCI address when you were reconfiguring it? You probably just need to do that, or correct it in the xorg.conf

lspci:

0001:00:10:0 VGA Compatible cpntroller: ATI Tecnologies Inc Rage Mobility M3 AGP 2x

I did, in fact, correct the address, but is seems that changing the .conf file had no affect.
Is their another place that Xorg looks for configuration?

bump

Still no luck, is there some other configuration file supplying the faulty information?
