Xorg-Devel?
 

Well, from reading through this post I THINK I need Xorg-Devel.

The error im currently getting when I try to install this kmuddy thing is:
checking for X... configure: error: Can't find X includes. Please check your installation and add the correct paths!

Now the other problem I have is that I have absolutely no idea where to get the Xorg-Devel stuff, you guy's said the CD ROM but where on the CD ROM? I've looked around (and I even have problems installing stuff) I just switched to Linux last night from Windows.

Another problem I'm having is that I'm even getting "Permission Denied" on some stuff when I'm logged in as the root.

What distro are you using?

Mandrake 10.1.

Try doing
#urpmi xorg-devel
You will need your installation disks. Urpmi is Mandrake package managemet tool and to fid out more about it go to zebulon.org.uk and easyurpmi. You can also use RPMDRake which is the GUI frontend to urpmi, to install and remove software.

thanks, but now im getting a "urpmi database locked"

The "#" means you have to be root in a terminal console. If someone posts a command with a "$" it means do it as a normal user in a terminal console.

[root@cable-bsr1-0520 chastin]# urpmi xorg-devel
no package named xorg-devel

#urpmi libxorg-x11-devel

still same, im thinking ihave it installed but i dunno :(

I have just checked and it's indeed what I said above, the best way is to probably setup external urpmi sources using the instructions from the links I posted above then once they are setup, you can use rpmdrake to install the xorg packages. All you would need is to search for packages called "xorg" a list will show up and then select the devel files you need to install.

Mandrake uses XFree86... or so I thought...

10.1 has xorg instead of xfree86.

Didn't know that... good to know.
