I'm having a problem with my ubuntu 9.04.
it sets my default laptop resolution to 1024x768 instead of 1280x800.
if I change it through the GUI interface, it fixes it until the next restart. after i restart it comes back to 1024x768.
I've seen this rare problem at various threads around the web.
although config.xml is configured correctly, the wrong resolution is loaded.
I've tried manually tweaking xorg.conf but the X server crashed.
I believed that i made a mistake on the way
can someone plz assist me forcing it to 1280x800 via tweaking xorg.conf?
it's a toshiba A300 laptop.
Under normal circumstances just editing the Modes should be good enough
Code:
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0" //or what you named it
Device "Videocard0" //or what you named it
Monitor "Monitor0" //or what you named it
DefaultDepth 24
Option <whateveryouhavehereifyouhaveitinthefirstplace>
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1280x800"
EndSubSection
EndSection
Hmm..
doesn't help.
The X server loads but the system doesn't retain the resolution.
This is my xorg.conf
if you need anything else to diagnose the problem.
plz let me know.
And many thanks.
b.t.w - do you have some kind of guide or doc for xorg.conf? the man page is very messy and i'd like to be able to tweak it on my own next time.
Hey
this is the entire file
The new versions of xorg (such in ubuntu jaunty) don't even require a xorg.conf. technically, the X server can run without it.
The graphic card is intel MHD4500.
Supposed to be supported.
The kernel is the default 2.6.28.
