it seems that i cant play mp3 with xmms i installed the xmms mp3 but still nothing. what should I do???

Are you using Red Hat?

Install mpg123. Goto www.xmms.org as they have links there and instructions as Redhat does not install this or include by default.

where can I get the mpg123 fro there is no links to it in the site

Well, I guess they did change their site a bit. But please don't use us as personal search assistants. First link from a www.google.com/linux takes you right to the projects page at: http://freshmeat.net/projects/mpg123/?topic_id=123
