XMMS made M3U playlists
Hi!
I have an iRiver HP120, a 20 gig MP3 player. It can handle M3U playlists. So I made some, in Winamp, in Windows, all worked fine. No that I have Linux, I ripped some music (took me a day or two, but I managed), and I created and M3U with XMMS. But my MP3 player gives me an error when I try to open it. Furthermore; if I open a Winamp made playlist in XMMS it's completely screwed up... What's this all about??? Thanks! Lex |
Join the club. I never could get XMMS to save and load M3U lists properly. Don't get me wrong, I love XMMS and use it often. I just have to use it listing all my MP3's.
That's kinda why I use Mplayer more. It uses standard .txt playlists and I can add or remove and sort in any order I want and it will just work. Again, not dogin XMMS and I think if I did a little research I could probably get it working but I just found a better solution. KC |
If you really wanted the M3U playlists you could try running winamp through wine, and just saving it like you would in windoze
i think winamp is officially supported by wine |
Thanks... but eerrrhmmm <dumb_mode> What's wine? </dumb_mode>

wine is a windoze emulator, it allows you to run windoze programs/games in linux
http://www.winehq.com/ all the information (ie. installing, running.) should be in that site ^^ |
Hi,
just tried to install winamp under wine, doesn't work though. When I say $>wine ~/.wine/.../winamp.exe I get two X-bars (no window) and X gets quite corrupted until I kill wineserver. Any idea what that is all about? Cheers, Carsten |
Lex,
you should give Winamp Playlist Creator (http://download.pchome.de/3263,winam...st-creator.htm) a try. It runs stable under wine. Actually I just had the same problems about xmms-playlists for my ihp140 as you reported. I think with this executable it will work out. Carsten |
