Question xmms install problem in Mandrake 10

OK, I have just installed Mandrake 10.0

(OK I installed 9.0, then upgraded to 10.0 but had problems with my upgrade creating a new user (S02) but everything had rights for S01 so I could only run things than were installed new with the upgrade. One of the things I could run was xmms. As I have spent less than 1 productive hour on linux, I reformated and installed Mandrake 10, but I never added xmms durring the install)

I am trying to install xmms but I keep getting this error and kn't understand what it means or how to work around.

libxmms1 = 1.2.9-3mdk is needed by smms-1.2.9-3mdk
libxmmx.so.1 is needed by smms-1.2.9-3mdk
libxmmx.so.1 is needed by (installed) libkdeaddons1-3.2-15mdk
libxmmx.so.1 is needed by (installed) kdenetwork-kopete-3.2-1.7mdk

the only thing close in the install packages is libxmms1-devel-1.2.9-4mdk, but I can't install because I get an unsatisfied rpmlib(VersionedDependencies) <= 3.0.3.1)

As far as I could guess, Mandrake install should have no problem as it installed xmms on upgrade install.

Help?

Have you configured your mandrake cd's correctly in the mandrake setup thingy?
If you have, it should automagically find and install all the dependencies for xmms for you.

Thanks for the tip

I went into media manager located in software management. In the media manager I updated whatever listing is kept for the CD's and Mandrake ftp site.

wala! all seems well

Does anyone have a tip for improving the uprmi manager? I went to http://plf.zarb.org/~nanardon/urpmiweb.php ank messed things up a little. I would like to add the ability to install rpm's that 'cant be included with the CD's'

I have no idea what that may be, but some day I hope to find out.

I'm not sure whether you mean to install a program that isn't listed, or have uprmi search a ftp site for a program that it needs to install another program?
If you want mandrake software, try www.rpmfind.net
for the latter, you need to find a site that mirrors mandrake rpms (which will be under a folder called contrib or something) and set urpmi to search it.
