xmms and internet radio.

I use Red Hat 7.3 --- Where can I obtain information on
"configuring" XMMS, so that it can be used to listen to
cd's, and internet radio.

Thank you

Welcome to LQ, T42.

It should work already. At it's simplest, when the main window is open, press <CTRL>+<L> (little L) and enter the url that you want to play. I have my plain ol' XMMS playing internet radio streams nicely just by having galeon open XMMS with the url as the only parameter. Try it.

Hi Thymox
I know this sounds pathetic but I can't get an url to work in XMMS - perhaps it's the quality of my urls? Can you post an url that you know works with xmms (or galeon or whatever) so that I can check it. If it works, I must be doing something else wrong.
Thanks a million

Should work. It's not great, it was the first one I found on ShoutCast under 'Punk' section. I take it you can play ordinary MP3 files with XMMS?

Got it! It was the way I was looking at the whole thing - err! incorrectly heh heh. But...your very seventies punk station works so I think I'm away. I couldn't play the url directly - I had to save it and then play it .... but it worked.
Thanks.
...and good riddance to Guy Fawkes!!

Hehe! I actually went to Ottery St Mary tonight! Fantastic fun! Anyway, what do you mean? Why can't you simply play the url? If you have the 'playlist' bit open, the far left button ('+ file', I believe)... click and hold it down until it expands upwards, then click the top button and type/paste in the url... but Galeon should automagically do it for you when you click the url.
