Red face Xlocking through shell creating problems

The problem that I am facing is when I lock screen by typing xlock on the shell I am not able to login back by typing the password. While if I lock screen through GUI I am able to login back by typing my password

To try and help you with this we'd need to know about your distro, your
DE/WM and whether the locking mechanism from the desktop uses the same
