Question .xinitrc

Hello,

I was following a guide and managed to install "x" and then gnome. However the next instruction is to run "nano .xinitrc", this file doesn't exist. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

There's no problem with that. Most times you have to create it yourself.

Code:
nano ~/.xinitrc
It's just a simple script, you can put there whatever you want to be run inside your X server when you type startx. It's used usually to load a window manager or desktop, so, you can drop there the command to lauch your gnome desktkop (I don't remember what that is right now, but probably something like gnome-session or so).
