Is there a way to set this to recieve email in plain text?
Or is this even a security issue?

you can set it not to load images in Tools--Settings, If someone sends you html you probably would not want to reject it.

Thats pretty much all u can do.

email to plain text

Kmail is pretty good. I use it one one of my systems.

If you are looking for a text based e-mail client I highly recomend "pine" it's small, easy to use, and sounds like just what you're looking for.
