Xfree86 problem. pls help
 

hey guys/girls

im running SuSE9.0 pro
had a ATI 9200 card running fine
i put a 9600pro and decided to get the drivers from ati.
so i got the drivers that were for XWin 4.3. as thats what i had

updated. restarted xwindows and its telling me i got no monitor or something.

pls someone. how can i fix this?
im kinda new to linux, never 'fooled' around or 'played' with xfree. in command line how can i get ride of that driver and just load it to what i was?

hello fuzzai,

when the X fails to start, I presume you can login using the shell?
do this as root and start YAST (I guess it's just typing "yast" at the prompt, but it's been some time since I last used suse) ... you will then get the yast configuration/install 'environment' :D (looks a bit the same as in X)
go to the settings of your monitor and video card, try to reconfigure it there (maybe your monitor settings changed because of the installation of new drivers???) ... and see if it works then (after shutting down yast, type "startx" at the prompt).
