Angry xcdroast DVD burning corrupting random files??

I am getting very frustrated. I am using the latest version of xcdroast on redhat 7.3. I have a Lacie external USB DVD-R/RW drive with burning capabilities. I have data on my computer that I would like to backup. I've tried TARring the files, TAR-GZIPing the files, leaving them as is with no archiving or zipping. I am dealing with brain imaging data that is in an Analyze format known as ".hdr". After I burn the data, which seems to go smoothly with no errors, I try to access the files from another computer using the burned DVD and some of the .hdr files are fine but others are totally messed up. This makes no sense. It seems to be random. I am able to use a command called "avwhd" that will give me the .hdr information. There should only be numbers representing values for different things in the .hdr file but the corrupted file contains all sorts symbols. If anyone can help me with ANY suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

The problem with it is that it's a very basic program you need K3B ...!
You can download it from K3B.com.....

I see that you are using an old version of Red Hat (not that there'e anything wrong with that), so you should check out the system requirements here first. Also make sure you have the optional components as well.
