xawtv-3.88 on mandrake 9.1

dear friends,

Ive been trying exaustivly to install and get xawtv working for my makdrake 9.1 with a Matrox Marvel G200tv video card. I have successfully compiled the package and installed it. But when I go to run the darn thing, using command "xawtv" i get the following error:

This is xawtv-3.88, running on Linux/i686 (2.4.21-0.13mdk)
can't open /dev/v4l/video0: No such file or directory
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway
v4l2: open /dev/v4l/video0: No such file or directory
v4l2: open /dev/v4l/video0: No such file or directory
v4l: open /dev/v4l/video0: No such file or directory
no video grabber device available

I've checked the /dev/v4l directory, and it is not there, it does not exist, v4l does not exist in the dev directory. I then snooped through many forms and came upon a suggestion to type the commands "xawtv -c /dev/video0" and i recieve the same error as above:

This is xawtv-3.88, running on Linux/i686 (2.4.21-0.13mdk)
can't open /dev/v4l/video0: No such file or directory
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway

v4l2: open /dev/v4l/video0: No such file or directory
v4l: open /dev/v4l/video0: No such file or directory
no video grabber device available

then to type "xawtv -hwscan" and I recieved the following:

looking for avaliable devices
port 69-69
type : Xvideo, image scaler
name: Matrox G-Series Backend Scaler

then the form suggested to check "lsmod" for bttv, but it was not there, this is what i got when i typed "lsmod":

mga 100572 10

when i tried to brobe for bttv i got:

/lib/modules/2.4.22-1mdk/kernel/drivers/media/video/bttv.o.gz: init_module: No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
modprobe: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.22-1mdk/kernel/drivers/media/video/bttv.o.gz failed
modprobe: insmod bttv failed

help....i dont know what to do, or where to look to install bttv, or if it's even what i need to install!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELP
