.Xauthority?
hey just a quick question, for some reason when i login with my normal user account i cant load up any of the kde administration tools (kde 3.2) for example kuser, it prompts me for the root password, i type it in but then it just does nothing. If i issue this command as root:
cp ~myusername/.Xauthority ~/ it seems to fix it up, is there a more permanent fix to this problem? |
hi there
when u do all things on shell then ,then u can do the perform admin (root) jobs with "su" so what iu think that in case of gui , then since ur .Xauthority files contains he super user status of X server ,so copying the file will work regards |
hey, thanks for the reply, but i was looking for a more permanent fix to the problem instead of having to copy it every login session

hi there
why don't u create a account with root rights and use that,if u are always upto doing some administartor work regrads |
then i'd just login as root all the time? i dont need it for very long, i think ive found a fix here under section 9.4.12
