Xandros install freezes at 90%
Xandros install freezes at 90% while "Configuring Runtime System"
The "pretty" background graphics continue changing but the install just sits at 90% Any ideas? Thanks in advance Steve |
Are you sure it's frozen, how long did you wait?
|
Thanks 4 your quick reply,
A good 15mins and there seemed to be no hard drive or any other activity going on, but the mouse cursor still worked and the background Xandros info was still scrolling! |
Kinda hard to tell what's going on but it doesn't sound like it's frozen.
|
I wanted to try Xandros because of its user friendlyness. The problem is its hiding all thats going on!

Maybe you should just wait longer and see if it finishes. |
How long? do you think it would be silly to leave it for an hour or so?

same experience
Hi!
My xandros installation also stopped at 90%, and after leaving it over night (about 8 hours!) it still was halting. Any ideas? |
download and try simply Mepis, run the live CD and then install it. It's "simply" ace!
Great newbie distro!! everything works inc nVidia drives and the Kpacket manager which is a front end GUI for Debiens apt-get makes installing software easier than M$. Forget Xandros, I gave up on it too and tried mepis for the first time. it's well cool! |
I bought Xandros v.3 CD's here in Germany. During install, it hung up too, around 89%. The CD looks milky. So I switched it from a plain CD player to my CD/DVD recorder from LG. It then installed from there with no problem.

Hi,
Well, something similar had happened to me with another distro, and the cause was found out to be due to some "cheap, generic" memory modules in my case. Just thought that I should share this with you for your information. |
