Xandros: apt-get update error, need assistance

Hi, when I try to run XandrosNetworks, I get an error:

E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (2 No such file or directory)
E: Unable to lock the list directory

Then I went into the Console and did a:

sudo apt-get update
aswell as an
apt-get update

and it came up with the same error. Anyone have suggestions? I am VERY new to this OS and I DID use the search function before posting this, but I wasn't 100% what to search for so don't yell at me if this is posted somewhere else, just kindly direct me to the topic.

Thanks,

-Vince

And also, this is another error I get from XN:

Sounds like you're missing the lock file -- what does

ls -l /var/lib/apt/lists/lock

show?

If you indeed get a file not found try:

ls -l /var/lib/apt

to see if the lists subdir exists. If not create it. You can just touch a file called lock ("touch /var/lib/apt/lists/lock") to create the lock file.
