x79 MB linux install
I have built a new box based on the ASUS P9X79 Deluxe MB running 32GB RAM… I see that ASUS officially does not support Linux and recommends that Windblows 7 or 8 be used… well, for the normal/daily use, I plan to use linux: Knoppix, Mint, or OpenSuse. The thing is, each one of these work great and insanely fast from the pen drive but once I install, I run into big problems… well, just one really, it will not boot. What I have done so far is: changed the bios to UEFI and that caused a major disruption in windoze booting… I assume I could install win in the UEFI settings and then retry…
I have read elsewhere that OpenSuse may be the best option since some have gotten “out of the box” stable installations with these boards…
Any ideas on how to get this to work?
My other option is to get a Hot swappable SSD (since the case has a external port for one) and use it as a high speed USB drive and have all the distros I could desire… just a thought.
